So apparently, MCR announced that they’re breaking up tonight. Have a quote:
“Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.
My Chemical Romance”
This is kind of sad. I’m not gonna pretend that they were my favorite band or anything, but they were a big part of my formative years, and one of the first groups I listened to that weren’t the norm for my demographic. Basically, it was because of them that I was able to develop my own taste in music, rather than go along with what everybody else was listening to around me (ie rap, R&B, etc.). And I still give Black Parade a listen every now and then (Teenagers is my ish!). Thus, the My Chemical Romance break up affects me in more of a sentimental way than a way in which I’ll miss their artistry.

So I was looking at the search engine terms that lead to the site yesterday, and one stood out to me:
“I have a man crush on Jonny Lang”.
It makes perfect sense. Look at this guy.
Look at that face. He’s angelic. And that 90s haircut? He’s the quintessential heartthrob. Hell, I have a man crush on Jonny Lang. And who wouldn’t? Have you heard his voice? It’s ridden with soul and wonder. Don’t believe me? Listen to his song “My Love Remains” from the album Turn Around, in this videofeaturing the photos of two attractive Brazilians.
And you thought he was a looker in his younger years? Have a gander at him now:
Would you look at him?
Having already crossed the line where you start questioning my sexuality, I’d better call it a day. Click here for my post on Jonny’s album Turn Around (available on iTunes and Amazon). And be sure to Like OhHayMike on Facebook and follow @OhHayMike on Twitter for updates. And shout out to Mr. Lang for being such a stud muffin.
So, in the past month or two, I’ve become really fond of the show Community, and have purchased and watched all three seasons, multiple times. It’s that great. So you can imagine how pleased I am that a sneak preview was released yesterday! I’m extremely excited for the new season, despite the fact that Chevy Chase will be leaving the show mid-season. But as long as I still have the rest of the group (esp. Shirley, love that woman), I believe I’ll manage. Check out the Community Season 4 sneak preview below, and make sure you Like OhHayMike on Facebook, and follow @OhHayMike on Twitter!
OhHay there, eWorld. Two posts in one day. I spoil you guys…
So, I quit Pokémon after Diamond and Pearl, after having been a dedicated fan for many a year. But after watching the announcement video for the new games, Pokemon X & Y, I may have to go buy a 3DS just to play these games. They look pretty much amazing. And another thing that’s really cool about the new versions is that they’re being released on the same date everywhere around the world, so there’ll be no Japanese time jump for this one. Check out the video below.

So, I now own The Amazing Spider-man on DVD. I actually bought it on Black Friday (my favorite day of the year, I also bought The Hunger Games), but never got around to posting about it, so here I go. You already saw my initial reaction to the movie when I posted about movies I’d seen this past summer, and my excitement for the film when I posted a video I made about the Spider-man story, so you can pretty much guess how I feel about this movie. And if you guessed “he loves it and can’t wait for the sequel”, then you were correct.
You know doubt know the premise of the Spider-man story, so I’ll spare you that synopsis. But what I will tell you is that I actually preferred this one over the first incarnation of Spidey films. For one thing, it was closer to the actual comic book story, what with Peter not just having the natural ability to shoot webs from his wrists, but rather him engineering a mechanism that does it for him, and him not jumping straight to MJ, and actually dating Gwen Stacy first, the way it was in the comics (though he actually dated Betty Brant before both of them… baby steps). The first films were good and everything, but I much prefer the new one. Plus, Emma Stone.
Long story short, it’s now a part of my collection, which is nearing completion. How excited am I? Pretty excited.

So, as you no doubt know by now, I am a huge fan of all things Marvel. So you can imagine my excitement when it comes to all the news swirling around regarding upcoming Marvel films. Expect more posts from me about some of the other films coming up, but for now, let’s talk about Iron Man 3, in theaters May 3, 2103, & Ant-Man, set for release on November 6, 2015.
First things first, let’s have a look at the trailer for IM3:
I know, right? This movie is going to be something else. In the film, Tony’s buttons are continuously pressed as he finds all he cares about is being destroyed by The Mandarin. And while, according to Empire, it’s not as dark as the trailer might suggest, it’ll provide a window into Tony’s soul, so to speak.
“It’s not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony. The trick is just trying to make great movies. We try to make them all great, all different and all fresh. What you’ll see in Iron Man 3 is some very unique directions that were taken.“ - Empire
Speaking of The Mandarin, I’m not sure I’m behind the decision to make him Caucasian. I mean, his name itself implies Asian descent. I’m sure Ben Kingsley will do a great job, and I understand the rationale behind it is that it’s about his depth as a character and not his notoriously non-PC disposition, but still. He can be both Asian AND tolerable. Just sayin’.
It’s also been suggested that The Mandarin won’t be the focal villain in the film, but rather just secondary villain, whose true moment of villainy will come later on down the line. In that case then, who will the other villain be? Despite what you may have thought you saw, it can’t be Iron Patriot (Spider-man and Norman Osborn still belong to Sony, remember?), so I don’t know who it is, if it’s anyone at all. I guess we’ll find out on May 3!
Moving on to Ant-Man, there’s not a lot out there. We do know that Hank Pym is getting his movie (well, maybe… we’ll get to that later), and that said movie is going to be released in November 2015, but past that, there’s not a lot. We do however know that at this past year’s Comic-Con (I seriously need to get to one of those things…), director Edgar Wright released some test footage to those lucky ducks in attendance. The faithful fans have not leaked the footage, but one fan did do a sketch recreation of what he saw. Check that out here:
Pretty impressive, I’d say. And it’s the best that’s out there anyway, so we’d better learn to love it. Also, regarding whether the Ant-Man in the film would be Dr. Pym or Scott Lang…
“Ah well, it could be Scott Lang, it could be Hank Pym, it could be both – okay it is both, now there’s an exclusive for you.” - Edgar Wright to Empire
So yeah. There’s that.

OhHay there, eWorld.
So, how many of you have that friend (or friends) that insists on inundating you with requests to help harvest their crops in Farmville? Well, I have good news for you fellow Marvel lovers: there’s an awesome Facebook game with which you can return the freakin’ favor! Yahoo!
The Marvel Avengers Alliance game isn’t actually a new game, but it’s still really fun to play. It’s the first game that I’ve actually been able to get into since Drug Wars back in 2006 (speaking of which, I should really check out my game. I should have dollars on dollars by now). In this game, you play an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and you go on missions with different characters from the Marvel Universe, most of which are a part of the Avengers. You also get to control these characters in a turn-based battle style gameplay. Characters you can unlock include Cyclops, Wolverine, Spiderman, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, She-Hulk, Iron Fist, Sif, Gambit, Colossus, Kitty Pryde, and many, many more. There are also storylines within the game that veer off into limited time only “Special Ops” through which you can unlock “limited edition” characters like Emma Frost, Magik, and Ghost Rider (though completion of these missions usually require you to buy gold, with IRL money. No thanks).
To add a bit of strategic element to the game, characters are divided into six classes: Generalists, Bruisers, Blasters, Tacticians, Infiltrators, and Scrappers, with Bruisers > Scrappers > Infiltrators > Tacticians > Blasters > Bruisers, and Generalists being neutral. This keeps you on your toes when deciding what characters to take into battle.
Without even buying gold, this is a highly enjoyable game, with the regular missions satisfying the RPG player, and for the more competitive players, PVP mode is a fun option in which you can battle against other players around the world. My personal slaughter team currently consists of OP (whom you can’t get rid of…) and either Emma Frost and Scarlet Witch, or Magik and Hawkeye.
So, on October 24, my school’s Campus Activities Board (Cabbie for life!) brought musician Andy Grammer to campus for a concert. Since I’m the Event Promotions Coordinator for CAB, I was VERY familiar with his music (and his face, as I made all the promotional items for the concert. Take a look at his photos. He’s always looking to the left. Shit be cray), so I was pretty excited for the day to finally have come. We were all expecting a great show.
He definitely did not disappoint! The energy was great, the music was just a good live as it was on track, and the crowd loved him. he had an opener Chris Wallace (former frontman of The White Tie Affair), who was also pretty darn good. He performed my favorite two of his songs, Lunatic and Build Me A Girl, as well as his bigger hits, Fine By me, Miss Me, and Keep Your Head Up. All in all, in was an awesome show.
This would be the time that I would go on to tell you about the show, but instead, I’ll just show you this video I’ve prepared, that highlights some of the great moments of the show, including his covers of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” and fun’s “We Are Young”:
Oh, and check this ish out, I got a picture with him. Dave, Kina, now Andy? Man, I’m on the ball. Now to just get a picture with Jonny Lang…
Chillin’ with my homeboy Andy.

OhHay there, eWorld.
So, at my job, I spend a lot of time at the computer. And rarely is there actual work to be done. So I spend a lot of time trying to entertain myself until it’s time to go. And today, I will tell you about one of the ways I accomplish this goal; a website introduced to me by my manager by the name of Sporcle.com.
Sporcle is a website that features a ton of quizzes and puzzles for the bored office worker. There are a bunch of categories to choose from, like Movies, Music, Science, Geography, History, Sports, etc., and each category has a bunch of subcategories. Some of the quizzes are freaking hard, and others are a breeze. It really is a savior for those of us stuck at a computer for hours on end. Have a link.

So who’s excited to see the sexiness that is Angelina Jolie in the film Maleficent? I sure as hell am.
The Disney film, based on the antagonist of another Disney film Sleeping Beauty, is projected to be released March 14, 2014. The fantasy-thriller is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty through the perspective of Maleficent herself. Besides Angie in the film, Elle Fanning is also starring as Princess Aurora, and a few Jolie-Pitt kids are even in on the gig. How precious.
In all honesty, I’m not expecting much from this movie. It’ll probably be one of those movies that you see and go “well, it wasn’t awful, but meh.” But, if that is the case, I won’t mind because, as you all know, I love Disney. And Angelina Jolie. What a fine woman she is.
A few photos of her costume have been revealed, and they are just adding to this sense of impending mediocrity. It looks like she’s on her way to a low-budget Renaissance fair. Let’s hope there’s some sort of After Effects magic that they plan on working on that potato sack they have her in, because at this point, they’re just asking for a flop. And don’t even get me started on those reindeer antlers on her head. I don’t know if they were dressing her for a role in a movie or for a rousing game of Dungeons and Dragons.
But alas, we must have faith in the powers that be that this film will turn out for the better, despite the evidence to the contrary. Though, since it is Disney, and Angelina Jolie is the title character, I’m pretty sure they can just put out 2 hours of pure horse crap and still make millions.
Either way, be sure to check out the film for yourself on March 14, 2014. Mark your calendars. And in the meantime, make sure you Like OhHayMike on Facebook and follow @OhHayMike on Twitter.
