So, who else loved the season premiere of Breaking Bad? I tell you, that show has quickly skyrocketed its way into my favorite 5 shows of all time. I love Walt’s character. He’s such a badass! And in that season 4 episode (I don’t recall which one exactly) when he tell’s Skyler “I’m the danger! You think I open the door and someone will shoot me? No, I’m the one knocking!” That pretty much made my life. And don’t even get me started on Gus’ death. What a great show.
Anyway, season 5 started off great in my opinion. Mostly because it answered a question that I’d had at the end of season 4; what the hell happened to Mike? I like how he and Walt are working together based solely on a mutual affinity for Jesse, (who by the way, I’ve only recently started liking; he was such an irresponsible trouble maker, i just wanted him gone. I felt the same way about him as I did about Silas from Weeds.) and to save their skins now that Gus is gone and the evidence of their illegal activity is not.
Speaking of liking characters, two that I’ve also only recently started to care for are Skyler and Marie. I found them both to be insuuferable, nagging housewives that should be seen and not heard. But in later seasons, they’ve started to lose their annoying demeanors either that, or I’ve just gotten used to them) and have become more likeable characters. Inversely, I’m losing patience with Hank. He used to be one of my favorites, but now, I’m not so sure how I feel about him. I feel like he’s getting in the way, but not causing any lasting conflict that would benefit the overall story. He’s a DEA agent for Christ’s sake. Let’s have a family war already!
Though, I’m curious as to what’s next for Walt and Jesse. I mean, obviously, they’re going to have to get into something, there’s a whole season waiting to be filled. And I pray that they don’t this whole “oh we have to cover our criminal tracks” thing out for a full season; there’s only so long I can care about a certain issue.
Either way, the season premiere was good, and I look forward to next week’s episode.
